Once again I didn’t want too much time to go by without a newsletter. It’s been another week of this status migraine - I think maybe I am around week five or six? I always stop counting - sometimes it is just easier not to keep track of it. Constantly keeping track of symptoms, diet, pain levels and time just becomes exhausting and at some point, you just have to let it go. I have a very mild cold and my body seems to think it is the equivalent of the Battle of the Somme (happy 107th anniversary to this horrendously inane inconclusive battle).
I haven’t been able to do much reading, so I am still only 2/3 through The Bee Sting - I do appreciate a good slow read. I did start a new IV treatment, so fingers crossed it helps. I have watched all there is to watch of 90 Day Fiancé – this did free up my time to watch the new cult docuseries from both Netflix and Max (HBO). The one on HBO might be the most bonkers one I have come across- they were called “Love Has Won” (among other names) and their leader, in her past life, was Marylin Monroe, Joan of Arc, Cleopatra AND a child of Trump’s. Not going to lie – it gave me the heebie-jeebies. I also caught up on the Gilded Age (so good once you get into it) and almost done with Love & Death with Jesse Plemons and Elizabeth Olsen– based on a true story about an affair and a brutal murder outside of Dallas around 1980. Apparently it is also a book- which I may or may not read.
I spend a lot of time trying to find museums that have good virtual tours. Most museums do the Google Arts & Culture, which I have found to be extremely frustrating because you can’t actually see the art very well – well I haven’t been able to. I do like that you get a sense of the layout. I appreciate museums who just makes their collections digitally accessible to the public. I did come across is The Museum of Broken Relationships, which was right up my alley. The main museum is in Zagreb, but they have touring exhibitions across the world. I am pretty sure you can take an educated guess what this museum is all about. On the website you can explore some of the objects that are found in the museum, along with a little blurb by the donor. There is also a section where people write in about the end of their relationships.
I have been listening to Leonard Cohen’s New Skin for the Old Ceremony (feels appropriate) on repeat and after Boygenius was on SNL last weekend I got a hankering to listen to Lucy Dacus’ Historian.
I am going to leave you here, since this is about all my soupy brain can handle. Below are a couple of pieces that I came across that filled me up a bit.
Love,
Naomi
p.s. please excuse any grammar or spelling mishaps -
I am also a 90 Day Fiancé fan!! Friends think I’m crazy but I love it, especially during these dark political times when I need an escape.,
