Hi - thank you so much for your lovely comment. I definitely recommend reading Buckeye, the audiobook is also really great. For the longlist, I started with Endling earlier in the year because it sounded intriguing and then I just read whatever arrived in the mail next. The one that had the greatest impact on me was Flashlight - which was actually the second one I read.
I always enjoy reading your newsletter so much! I just read the boyfriend article. Such an interesting thought. Here I am in my 40s with a boyfriend. I do find it slightly embarrassing. Haha! I don't post his face online mainly for safety reasons, but I also feel boastful and having gone through divorce, I know what the relationship fallout is like. I wish there was a better word too... partner, best friend... I haven't found one that captures it yet.
Hi Tiffany! thank you so much. The boyfriend article is interesting - I totally agree with you, how nothing feels 100% secure. From my own personal experience - I also feel like how we are starting to acknowledge how poorly a lot of men treat their significant others and women don't need to feel the need to see just being in a relationship as status symbol and that having a man in your life, even if they treat you poorly, makes you whole. It is nice to know that people are realizing that just being a grown ass woman is enough to feel whole and not something to feel less than.
Absolutely. I refuse to speak poorly about my marriage, but I will say that I have learned that not being in a relationship is better than being in a subpar one. I cannot emphasize the toll it took on me enough.
